A three-way catalyst oxidizes exhaust gas pollutants including hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) and it also reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless components such as, water (H2O), nitrogen (N2), and carbon dioxide (CO2).
